Autour d’un Verre came to mind recently when my girls and I wanted to dine at a local restaurant with good food and a nice selection of wines in the 9th Arrondissement. I mean when in Paris – you do like the Parisians, right?
Arriving late – as I always do, my friends where already enjoying their starters including a simple yet delicious seasonal tomato ceviche (Tomate?Ancienne) of green, yellow and blood red?tomatoes sprinkled with some olive oil and what I guessed was large sea salt. I joined them by ordering the Skagen; a crawfish puree with red onions, dill and cream cheese on a toast of french baguette.
After sitting down in the large single room restaurant I had a chance to scope out the neighboring tables and folks inside: a mix of local couples, businessmen and some japanese tourists. The food is simple but well known for being good on any given day /or night. Which was perfect because when the girls and I get together – we eat!
The Tomato Ceviche
The Skagen
One the menu for the night there was a selection of 2 fish main courses, 3 meats (steak, duck and pork) and a vegetable lasagna. So pretty much enough choices to suit anyone in the group; vegetarians and carnivores a like.
The night was fun, full of laughs, good home style french food and wine of course.
Prices: Starter + Meal + 2 glasses of wine averaged 30eu per person.
Thing to know:
- You have to try the Skagen!
- Menu changes every week.
- Fresh produce from the market or local boucherie.
- Great selection of organic wines.
- simple no fuss, good french home style food.
- Friendly service.
- Small Terrace
- Credit cars accepted
- Good for a group or romantic meal
