My parisian life

BORDEAUX from PARIS: Top (Local) Things To Do and See

Bordeaux is one of France’s most beautiful cities to visit. I was recently in town to round-up the best city guide of where to stay, eat, drink and wander in the wine city for a few days.

B.Town has just stole a piece of my heart and I’d be surprised if you weren’t held captive too.

Wine wine wine and dine as much as you want in this cute metropolis that manages to mix old french buildings with some neo-French bistros for good tastes and a burgeoning coffee shop culture for good measure.

If you have a few days, or a long weekend Bordeaux is only 3 hours away from Paris by train. So why not plan a double romantic foodie getaway with Paris and Bordeaux in the itinerary This list, is no way exhaustive but as per usual it has some local gems and it will show you that there is just so much to do like a local and mixing in some touristy stuff.

WHAT TO DO IN BORDEAUX

COFFEE

Are you a coffee feen like myself? Don’t worry I’ve got you covered and about to be dully caffeinated with the best of Bordeaux, from Alchemist that roasts their own coffee (in another location) and offer superb cortado. to Cafe Piha that has the best entrance / not quite outdoor seating (yet) but my flat white was as balanced as they come and the chocolate cake fluffy and tasty. Sip has more of a cosy california family feel spread our over two levels and many different sections and the best matcha lattee I’ve had in a good while.

FOOD

For dinner Bistro Cafe de Musee – offers a fixed meal for 18 euros of appetizer of the day and Main dish – or a 26 euro option for just about a y plate with appetizer, main dish, and dessert, glass of wine around 5 euros. All in all a great place to go in groups or with you special someone – they feel is intimate but they have ample seating and a prized position close to the center of town at Hotel de Ville. I have the lamb with carrots puree, and potato gratin – with the speciality of bordeaux cannelloni – this time with a center of vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate – like a profiterole- oh lord – my body was not ready!!

The entree had a dill sorbet wrapped in a pastry with thin slices of salmon

Stop in for drinks or coffee at Plume – and on the same street is one of Bordeaux best wine bars – Le Flacon – but you have to also eat….Mampuku is an interesting concept of dinning that involves fresh produce that travels outside of Bordeaux with an East meets West theme – you can enjoy a six coarse meal (menu at 30 Euros) with plates from France, Japan, Tahiti, Lebanon and close to Pont de Pierre…More on them on Le Fooding Bordeaux

If you’re feeling like planning a party or staying in – order a pannier from Mon Assiette Local – to get a taste of some of the best artisanal food and drinks in bordeaux.

VISIT

Cite de Vin – is a must see if you have an afternoon to spare (around 4 hours to really take it all in) and at the end the entrance ticket also includes a complimentary glass of wine. The CAPC is one of those artistic institutions that at the same time beautiful and interesting to visit.

La Maison Bord’eaux – is on a quite street in a picturesque part of the city that has trendy green feel with a massive garden and terrace rooms

Hotel Particulair – more central and chic location in Bordeaux would be hard to find than this boutique hotel that offers you complimentary afternoon tea and macaroons!
