Le CouCou in Meribel : an unconventional hotel

Located on the Belvédère (5.000 ft high) in Meribel, the most elegant ski resort of the 3 valleys area, le Coucou (the cuckoo), is a five star hotel opened in december 2019 with many assets in its nest …

The third achievement for Maisons Pariente group

After Crillon le Brave, a hotel village at the foot of Mont Ventoux, Lou Pinet hotel in Saint-Tropez in the sixties- style, here is le Coucou in Meribel, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. It looks like a traditional chalet and offers a stunning view over the mountains. But in stark contrast to hotels in Meribel around, you will be surprised as soon as you enter the lobby to find yourself in a brightly coloured cupola, decorated with owls (painted by Matthieu Cossé) and a sculpture by Udo Rondinon on the side. Exit traditional mountain wood, fur or stone to make way for contemporary design !

 55 rooms and suites

55 rooms and suites ranging from 320 ft2 to 1200 ft2 feature a large variety of colors, mainly terracota and pinegreen with yellow, blue, pink and very light wood on the walls. Pierre Yovanovitch likes to get off the beaten paths, he mixes antiques with his own creations like armchairs looking like white bears, coffee tables with bird legs, or carpets with snow flakes…Le Coucou, a very cocooning place : in most rooms you have a terrace opening on the Jardin Alpin or the Belvedère ski slope, how delightful to bask in the sun and enjoy silence and the view ! Another good thing in this hotel : many adjoining rooms.

Two restaurants serving different cuisines

Meat lovers will enjoy the BeefBar as in Paris, Monaco, New York or Mykonos, where delicious meat comes from all over the planet : Jack Angus from Argentina or USA, wagyu beef from Australia, Kobé beef fom Japan…decorated with hanging lamps in the shape of ice cubes , or a collection of funny cuckoo-clocks straight from the Black Forest. On the 6th floor an Italian restaurant, Biancaneve, features risotto, pasta, antipasti to share, mozarellas and pork delicatessen, not to mention the first class dessert buffet with fruit pies and huge éclairs to be shared. And cherry on the cake you can have lunch on the terrace, right on the ski slopes, if the weather is fine.

The plus ?

Le Coucou is one of the very few hotels in Meribel to have a skiroom directly connected to the 3 Valleys domain and its 600km slopes. What’s more two areas are specifically dedicated to children : the Kids Club for children aged 4 to 9 and the Teen’s Lab from 10 onwards with table football, table tennis or karaoke. Last but not least two 590m2 private cottages are connected to the hotel through an indoor passageway. The refined luxury of these chalets include a pool , a spa and even a valet.
