Paris – August Things To Do

Paris in August is a great, calmer time to visit Paris as many locals are out of town. But be aware to check opening hours and times as many places also close for vacation in August too! Some old hotels are yet to reopen, but we have a few new ones in town. There are plenty of visitors coming to Paris from european cities, but I am yet to see a strong return of anglophone visitors.

Let’s talk about the weather, what to pack and some of the best things to do in Paris;

Here’s the summary of what this article is about, we’re going to be talking about:

WEATHER IN PARIS

August weather in Paris right now is quite gray but still warm, you won’t need a coat, but a scarf and light vest could come in handy.

Typically you will have the 2nd warmest month in August.  Usually 23-25C. The highest recorded temperature in Pairs during August was 40C.

What to Pack for Paris in the Month in August?

As usual, I always say bring clothes you will feel your best in, then think about practicality and the events you’ll be doing.  To see more about French girl style check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTCYKbItxSY&t=1s

Comfy shoes because the cobblestone streets in Paris are no joke. Not to mention if you’ll be joining me on a tour in hilly Montmartre. To Book a One on One Tour here.

Corona Update

Once again, I’m not a health professional, but last I heard if you are vaccinated or can show a negative PCR test (in the last 48 hours) you can enter France.

Coincidentally, as you have seen in the news President Macron has passed the Pass Sanitaire law which in essence means that you must show a vaccination card or negative PCR test to enter museums, restos and cafes.

There has been a massive number of people vaccinating and also a massive amount of people protesting the Pass Sanitaire – every Saturday, because it’s been essentially forced on people who are not yet ready to be vaccinated.

AUGUST DATES TO NOTE

15 August – Assomption

Is a celebration of the mother of Jesus, Mary. Traditionally not a very religious country but one still steeped in tradition and the love to have days off. So today it’s a day that is not celebrated in a special way but you can have the day off from work.

Here are a list of Museum and Monuments open on the 15th

Be Safe

Like I shared on Instagram that Paris is a metropolitan city like any other so you have to be careful of pickpockets, especially when you’re in the metro or when you’re around the monuments you want to be very vigilant. Carry your wallets in your purse in front of you, try and avoid carrying around too much cash, and definitely be careful when people come up to you asking you if you speak English asking to sign any petition. A lot of times those are Gangs of Gypsies who target travelers.
