Paris Style: My February Diary
February in Paris is cold and gray but I can’t complain as it’s still a beautiful city – you just need your layers – and we have lots of burst of sunshine here throught the day.
I love to add lots of colors to my outfit whether that be a bright pink beanie or an orange floral scarf – I’m all about brightening things up. Some days though I do go all black because it’s so easy when I don’t know what to wear black just pulls an outfit together effortlessly.
Perfumes have become my new obsession! I can’t go anywhere without a splash or dab of this or that and I’ve been so taken up on Perfume history, Nose, Sculptuers (bottle Makers), etc. It all got out of hand when I went to the Braderie de Lille (the biggest flea market in France!) last September and picked up some 10 tiny miniature bottles of super cute perfume bottles ( that I mostly bought because they were the cutest!). And now I am being transported by their scents in every which way. Before that last year, I bought my first bottle of Chanel 5 – gasp! I know how is it that I have been living in the land of Coco and not given in. I have no idea because this fragrance simply takes my breath away! Another exciting purchase I made last year was investing in the Silk Mood Oud perfume from Maison Francis Kurkdjian – it’s the best long-lasting perfume I own. I buy perfume from everywhere now – I love the collection at Yves Rocher and &Otherstories and I was even surprised that some made by H&M came from some very popular Nose.
On our way back from Jamaica I stopped at my mother-in-law in Lille and as we had family over for our regular – hmm what do we call it? Sort of an annual start of the year lunch we have that’s in the middle of January where her sister brings over some Pain Surprise – sort of a massive bread cut out and lots of little sandwiches made and stuffed back in. It’s a family tradition I love for the gathering but couldn’t care less about the food, because we drink champagne and eat bread all afternoon – hahaha , but I digress. So my aunt-in-law came and as soon as I leaned in to do the double kiss – bisous – we do here I could smell a floral punch in the most magnificent way. Turns out she was wearing Amarige by Givenchy! I have never even owned a bottle of anything Givenchy, so you know I got a bottle delivered to our apartment ASAP. hahaha. It smells like a rich auntie hahaha.
Last night we went to the movie premiere of DAAAALI and it made me want to get some Dali perfume I’ve been eying on eBay and vinted. Apparently (review on fragrantica.com), some of the fragrances are divine and the bottles are so unique! If you’re in Paris definitely go it see, DAAAALI comes out the second week of February in all theatres and it is hilarious!
Anywhooo, enough of my perfume chronicles
This month I am looking forward to wearing my wool skirts – I kind of want to give denim a rest. We’ll see how that goes, as I can be a blue denim and white button-down type of girl when I want to be no fuss. hahaha
