Best Coffee Shops in Montmartre: A Local Guide to Paris’s Coolest Cafés

Olas coffee shop montmartre

Hey coffee lovers! Welcome to my ultimate guide to the coolest coffee shops in Montmartre. As a tour guide based here in this iconic Parisian neighborhood, coffee is essential to my routine, and I’m always on the hunt for the best spots to fuel my day. Montmartre’s coffee scene has evolved beautifully over the years, now offering a mix of timeless cafés and hip new spots.

When I just moved to Paris – artisanal coffee was few and far in between. The only place I could grab decent coffee in the 18th arrondissement for years was at Cafe Lomi. I am so proud of Paris right now!

Here’s a guide to my favorite places to savor a fantastic cup, each with its own unique charm.

 1. 57 Grains

Just a stone’s throw from the Mairie (town hall) of the 18th arrondissement, 57 Grains is a newer addition that’s quickly become a neighborhood favorite. Located on a sloping street, this cozy café offers ample space to relax and people-watch. They’re known for their perfectly crafted matcha lattes, and don’t miss the chewy, addictive cookies that pair so well with any drink. If you’re looking to escape the usual hustle, 57 Grains is a wonderful hideaway.

 2. Ola’s Café

Welcome to my daily go-to coffee spot! Ola’s isn’t just about coffee – it’s a community. I often find myself chatting with friends/owners  Bos and Faye here, catching up on neighborhood news or just taking a breather with a warm allongee in hand. Ola’s is the kind of place where everyone knows each other, and it’s truly special to me. It’s tiny and the friendly vibe here, coupled with its delicious coffee, makes it a spot I can’t stay away from.

 3. Café Lomi

This one’s a legend in Montmartre’s coffee scene. Café Lomi has been around for a while and is well-known across Paris for its coffee. They’re more than a café—they’re a roasting school, and many of the city’s best baristas have trained here. The interior is stylishly industrial, and the coffee? Flawless. If you’re curious about the art of coffee-making, this is the place to learn while sipping a stellar cup brewed by some of the best baristas in the city.

 4. Devotions

For a creative twist, Devotions offers drinks like the beetroot latte—a unique blend that brings out subtle earthy notes. It’s a bit of a walk away from the crowds at Sacré-Cœur, yet perfectly positioned for a break from the sightseeing rush. The cozy ambiance and colorful drinks make it ideal for those looking to try something different while still enjoying a comforting café vibe.

 5. Two Doors

As soon as the weather is nice, 2 Doors is your go-to spot with its plentiful outdoor seating. Their daily sandwiches are both hearty and satisfying, and a perfect match with a rich espresso. It’s also a wonderful spot for a quick bite if you’re looking to savor the Parisian lifestyle while watching the world go by. The name says it all—two doors, but one great café experience.

 6. Dose Café

Dose has two locations in Montmartre, each with its own character. The newer one by Lamarck Metro Stop is especially lovely, with benches outside where you can sip on high-quality, artisanal coffee and enjoy people-watching in one of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods. Dose serves up simple, excellently brewed coffee that’s just right for a crisp Parisian morning or a lazy afternoon.

This place is a nod to New York with its simple, filter coffee and NYC-style bagels. Bob’s Bake Shop is all about relaxed vibes, great tunes, and, of course, delicious bagels to go with your coffee. It’s the perfect spot for an unpretentious cup that tastes just right and keeps you coming back for more. Grab a bagel and a seat—it’s a great way to start any morning in Montmartre.

 8. Poom Poom Café

A newer addition to my beloved La Goutte d’Or, Poom Poom Café has already made a name for itself with a focus on queer culture, warm vibes and a friendly welcome. Their €12 lunch specials are a fantastic deal, offering tasty options alongside their great coffee. Poom Poom has brought something fresh to the neighborhood, and locals have embraced it as a cozy, stylish spot for both coffee and meals.

 9. Beans on Fire

At the back of Sacré-Cœur, down towards Rue des Abbesses, is Beans on Fire—a place where coffee lovers can get lost in conversation about blends, roasts, and more. The staff here really know their coffee, and they’re happy to chat about it with anyone interested. Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or just need a good pick-me-up, Beans on Fire is always a solid choice.
