10 Must See Winter Exhibitions in Paris

This december 2015 through to March 2016 will see some exciting (some Free) exhibitions here in Paris. Whether you’re looking for something to do on a rainy day; fashion, history, photography and pop art are all rounded up in our curated itinerary (with maps). Oh and we didn’t forget the kids either! ?Here’s our “Must see” winter list for ?your next trip to Paris.

 


 

1. Sneakers: Objects of Desire at Credit Municipal Gallery?

More than 200 pairs from Private collections.

A cool and extensive collection of sneakers from the turn of the century up to today are all on display in the trendy ?Marais neighbourhood.

Lots to see for the sneaker freaks and also a cool place to take the kids. Some interactive displays with kids from all over the world taking about thier favorite sneakser line the walls.

Just outside there is a photobooth thats a fun way to stamp the memory of the day.

2. Valadon, Utter, Ultrilio at Montmartre Museum?

A moving exhibition on the amazing life of female model turned painter(Valadon), mom to another well known painter(Ultrilio) and lover to another (Utter). Where all three spent?much of their life painting and working in Montmartre. The museum grounds?also give a magnificent view over Paris from the vineyards of montmarre. It’s a step away from Place Tetre and Sacre Couer so worth a visist if your up on the the hill. ?12, rue Cortot, ?has a rich history of the three. Audioguide?strongly suggested, my son especially ?loved this! And I loved the garden.

3. HEY! modern art & pop culture / ACT III at La Halle Saint Pierre?

Brought to you by HEY! modern art & pop culture, an art magazine founded in 2010 by?Anne & Julien, is back at La Halle Saint Pierre after the resounding success of its two previous editions in 2011 and 2013. This third edition, the exhibition?will go further in its exploration and diffusion of various countercultural artistic media: Lowbrow Art, outsider art, comics and more generally any artistic vector of street culture. Just beside Sacred Heart Church.

4. Picasso Mania at Grand Palais?

A massive selection of Picasso’s works in one place.

5. Lucien Clergue at Grand Palais

How did Pablo Picasso decide to sponsor this young man, not yet twenty, as he introduced himself to him at the end of a corrida in Arles to show him his photographs? The answer lies in Lucien Clergue?s first albums, which remained unknown until his recent death at the age of 80 on the 15th November 2014.

6. Rodin Museum Re-opens

A complete renovation in celebration of the 175th birthday anniversary of Auguste Rodin himself. After a 3 year facelift you can go see the famous “The Thinker” and the Hotel Biron that houses the permanent?collection.

Rodin also owned a collection of paintings by his contemporaries, and some of these will be displayed here, including Le P?re Tanguy by Van Gogh, Edvard Munch?s 1907 painting Rodin?s ?Thinker? in Dr Linde?s garden in L?beck, as well as the newly restored Th??tre de Belleville by Eug?ne Carri?re.?

7. Robert Doisneau at National Natural History Museum

Robert Doisneau produced two reports to the National Museum of Natural History.?The first in the years 1942 – 1943;?the second in 1990. More than a hundred images drawn from these reports, mostly stored in the Doisneau bottom of the Museum’s library, are unveiled for the first time to the public.?

8. La Mode Retrouvee (Fashion rediscovered) at Paris Galliera Fashion Museum?

PALAIS GALLIERA MUS?E DE LA MODE DE LA VILLE DE PARIS

A collection of Haute couture from?The divine Countess Greffulhe, who lived the end of the Second Empire, the two republics, two world wars,?knew the Belle Epoque, the Roaring Twenties, and the elite ruled for half a century.

9. The History of the Marais at Carnavalet Museum

The exhibition aims to highlight the personalities of yesterday and today who since Andre Malraux, have contributed to the architecture and heritage Marais innovative momentum.

10. Warhol Unlimited at Museum of Modern Art?

For the first time in Europe presentation of??Shadows (1978 to 1979) in their entirety, the Modern Art Museum of the City of Paris at Palais de Tokyp, an exceptional exhibition with over 200 works dedicated to Andy Warhol (1928-1987).??
