Paris Hotel Review: Belle Juliette close to Luxembourg Garden (75006)

Everything about the Hotel Spa Belle Juliette says fine luxury on an intimately charming scale. The 4 star boutique hotel close to the Luxembourg gardens and just a stones throw from the chic Le Bon Marche is on a quite street. Perfect for a romantic weekend get away or even a longer family trip. They have a neat in-house spa and even a swimming pool (that’s really rare in Paris!) called the sweet pool because of its size; perfect enough to wash away some of the stress of the day after wandering around Paris or coming in directly from Charles de Gaulle airport.

We found the staff to be super friendly (they do speak really good English) and the energy of the hotel was welcoming, clean and calm. We had a slight issue with the TV via the Mac desktop and they came and changed the mouse batteries very happily. If you want to use the Spa, just call down 15 mins before to have access.

Room 111, facing the roof of the terrace bar was perfect for us. We got to see some of the typical Parisian rooftop and listen to the people enjoying their drinks – but it never got loud after 11pm. You’d like our room if you’re traveling with kids or want a really big space that feels like an apartment with two big rooms a living and bedroom, bathroom with a bathtub ( also rare in Paris!) and a separate toilet area. The decor by Anne Gelbard was cheeky done in vibrant tones of blue and yellow, that made us feel relaxed while inside the bedroom and the long red canape could easily sleep another person.

Take the elevator or the beautiful old French style staircase that has a cute Marie Antoinette glass wall downstairs. Head to the lobby cocktail bar complete with a vintage Harp and massive Piano. Everything really vibrantly decorated to create a mood of happiness, we really enjoyed the touches of gold, pink and purple. Then the minimalist feel of the terrace adjacent to the petit garden was perfect to give the feeling of escape in a city.

You can spend a weekend enjoying the 6th neighborhood of paris with the hotel as our pleasure base. The area is in one of Paris most affluent neighborhoods so its’ pricy but the quality of the food and shops are above average.

Oh also wanted to say : while checking in we also say a couple coming from London for a weekend to celebrate their baby-moon, and I thought what a great idea!

TO BOOK:

Hotel & Spa La Belle Juliette

Some places to see, eat and visit close to the Hotel Belle Juliette and Metro Saint Placide:

1. Luxembourg Gardens (75006)

My son and I went to see the ponies and in search of ice cream. They have carousels too. Another activity we enjoyed watching was the boats on the petit bassin/pond. There were many people out playing tennis on the courts, running, or just enjoying the sun.

2. Crepes for Lunch at La Creperie (75005)

not in the 6th but surely an easy walk from Luxembourg garden and facing the beautiful Pantheon that houses Foucault Pendulum. We took advantage of the Kids menu for my son – savory crepes (made of Sarrasan/buckwheat), sweet crepes and a drink for 10 euros. Who can resist – especially when you can have a Nutella crepes after your meal!

Address: 12 Rue Soufflot, 75005 Paris

3. Pastries and tea at Bread and Roses (75006)

By far the most mouth-watering pasties on this side! And you’ll see what I mean when you order the cherry tarte. Try any one of their numerous teas to accompany your pastry.

Address: 62 Rue Madame, 75006 Paris

4. Croissant Breakfast at L’Horizon (75006)

we opted to have breakfast outside “en terrace” and it was perfect. the typical croissant, tartine with jam, fresh orange juice and omelette – 11 eros. Standard and good way to start the day just in from of metro Saint Placide. Prefect to people watch!

Address: 120 Rue de Rennes, 75006 Paris

5. Shopping at Le Bon Marche (75007)

The luxury retailer has some of the worlds most sought after brands and one of my favorite place to gift myself or friends. During the christmas season the indoor decorations is one of the most instagramed.

Address: 24 Rue de Sevres, 75007 Paris

6. Japanese Dinner at Ippudo Paris (75006)

This was an unexpected surprise – we were seeking something casual that would welcome kids and this place even though it looked packed welcomed us with such a warm service and the food , Japanese soups were super delicious – one of the best I’ve tasted in Paris. Around 12 Eu per bowl. A bit noisy but to be expected as it’s a mixed crowd of locals and tourists.
