My parisian life

THINGS TO DO IN PARIS ? [JANUARY 2017]

numchoksJanuary in Paris always catches me a bit off guard. ?I’ll admit it, and before you even ask “why so?” I’ll chalk it up to the fact that most people – including this here Paris blogger, goes through a cosy “hivernal”?winter mood in December and January. A part of me wants to detach from social media and the digital world to take in all the glory of the season, enjoy the family time and stuff myself silly. And another part of me want to just get out there! To the streets, cafes, museums and shops and share it all!

oh man!

I know you will bear with me and my crazy bi-polarisation – during this phase – and hence excuse my late January to do post right ? 🙂

Alas that’s how most of the people I know are feeling these first few days into the new year – ?a bit detached also because 2016 was rough in many ways. Only hoping for the best in 2017!

My sincere apologies for pulling the trigger a week later on this post, but as we say better late than never right?

Can you guys believe it we’ve done another year together! Thank you for coming back on our food and travel blog for all the best tips on life in Paris, where to eat and drink, but also some personal commentary on life in France. This year I look forward to sharing more and seeing you all more too! So remember to sign up to our monthly meet-ups on Facebook and follow for updates on Instagram.

Ok, enough of me ranting …Here’s our hand-picked (short) list of trouble to get into in Paris.

EAT

via Facebook

Martin Boire et Manger ?(Oberkampf)

You’ll be treated with the best in meats. French food done simple and done extremely well. Not to mention the wine selection game is on point! Oh and yes, you MUST try the cheese plate. ?It’s the smaller brother restaurant?of Au Passage.

Address: 24 Boulevard du Temple, 75011 Paris

Cafe Pouchkine -?Pouchkinette (Rue Montorgeueil)?

Just opened on the typical french street to wander around, Rue Montourgueil, serving amazing pastries and some savory in an almost Wes Anderson -esque ambiance. Seriously! You’ll immediately feel the resemblance to The Grand Budapest Hotel with the care given by the waiters and the powdery interior design.

Great place to stop for a regular coffee, tea and extraordinary cakes!

Address: 14 Rue des Petits Carreaux, 75002 Paris

Le Floreal (Belleville)

Another favorite of me that I’ve been to this week and totally forgot that it’s a great place to have a girls night out or a birthday dinner – as they have many meat, fish and salad options in a cool young part of town, is Le Floreal!

Address: 73 Rue du Faubourg du Temple, 75010 Paris

Koyaka Kitchen (La Goutte D’or)

If you’re looking for authentic west african?food you have to step outside of your comfort zone and head to Chateau Rouge, walk down Rue Myrah and get some Acheke to-go for a simple 5 euros at Koyaka Kitchen.

Address: 36 Rue Myrha, 75018 Paris

DRINK

Le?Zorba (Belleville)?

So you know what? I was going to put a cool hipster bar here and then I said ah f&@k it! Live a little – so I want to introduce you all to Le?Zorba a little kitsch bar in Belleville neighbourhood that’s for mostly 20 something and early 30s folks mingling and drinking cheap beer and shots. BUT the best part is that when you go downstairs you’ll be taken back to almost an old Paris from the days of even Edith Piaf where the young hang out and had jam sessions! It’s free too!

Address: 137 Rue du Faubourg du Temple, 75010 Paris

Chambre Noire (Republique)

continues to be one of my favorite places to have a cosy evening – with great friends, organic wine and shared small plates of food.

Address: 82 Rue de la Folie M?ricourt, 75011 Paris

La Colonie (Gare du Nord)

is also continuing its cultural exploration debates, DJ sets and more – and is one of the coolest places now to just hang out and have a drink close to Gare du Nord.

Address: 128 Rue la Fayette, 75010 Paris

COFFEE

Some new openings of really good coffee in Paris, that makes me so excited I can’t even deal!

Republique of Coffee location is perfect if you’re trying to find a place to have a good coffee near metro republic – the usual cosy setup with lots of books to read, a super moist chocolate cake and lots of light coming in to warm you up as you sip on your flat white and write your next novel surrounded by folks talking about their recent vintage purchase.

Address: 2 Boulevard Saint-Martin, 75010 Paris

5 Pailles is also open on Rue Faubourg Saint-Denis (next door to Peonies), offering great coffee of course, but the piece de resistance is the massive well decorated space in the back to retreat with a book, your computer or your best pal for an afternoon of chatter. The food menu is developing, but I’ve seen sandwiches and salads, as well as scones and granola bowls.

Address: 79 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, 75010 Paris

Maison Sarah Lavoine is actually an interior design store with a coffee shop inside. She’s one of the most influential decorators today and this shop oozes design deluxe! A new concept store right at Place de Victoires.

Address: 6 Place des Victoires and 6 Place des Petits-P?res, 75001 Paris

STAY

Superior room at Westin Paris Vendome

Luxury

The Westin Paris Vendome – talk about lap of luxury in Paris and this is it. I like to recommend this hotel in Paris for romantic couples who want to live it up. It’s location is next to the Louvre and you can walk to the chic luxury stores on Rue Saint Honore from here.

Boutique Paris Hotel

Hotel Edgar has one of the best tables to dine in the second arrondissement?of Paris, and one of the best places to stay too .All the rooms were done in the style of a close friend (all celebrities) of the owner of the hotel and hold this certain contemporary je ne sais qoui.
