PARIS ART: Elliott Erwitt opening + review
“Elliot Erwitt, Retrospective” at Musee Maillol
23 March – 15 August 2023
Musée Maillol Paris: The Elliott Erwitt exhibition pays tribute to one of the legendary photographers of the 20th century, a member of Magnum Photos since 1954.
You will see 215 black and white photos for which he is widely known, then an impressive selection of color photography.
Many include defining figures and celebrities such as Che Guevara, Marylyn Monroe, John F Kennedy, and Grace Jones to name a few.
We went on the opening weekend (so we waited an hour in line, but it was so worth it!). I suggested we get tickets and walk around the neighborhood for an hour – so we did just that and headed down one of my favorite streets, Rue de Grenelle (tons of super cool boutiques and beautiful buildings with big traditional doors). Also, Noglu is just next door.
I digress…but the exhibition is genuinely inspirational even if you’re not a big photography or museum fan.
Elliott Erwin, his life and works are nothing short of serendipitous, poised, and playful all at the same time.
The show runs now until August 15th.
-open every day from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm
