Visiting the Puce de Saint Ouen for the first time can be overwhelming, this article will help you discover the largest antique market in an easy and fun way. This guide is written by a local tour guide here in Paris and an antique lover – me! I live in Montmartre – a few minutes away.
If you’re a fan of vintage treasures, antiques, and unique finds too, then exploring the flea market in Paris, Puce de Saint-Ouen, Vanves, or even the antique section of Marche Aligre, is an absolute must! As your local Paris guide, I’ve got you covered. So, grab your map/phone, and let’s embark on this exciting journey together!
Where to Find the Best Parisian Flea Markets:
Paris is renowned for its vibrant flea market culture. Apart from Puce de Saint-Ouen, two other popular flea markets worth exploring are Marché aux Puces de la Porte de Vanves (I’ve found a beautiful silk vintage Lanvin dress for 10 euros back in 2016) and any neighborhood Emmaus (kind of like our Goodwill). There is also a tiny antique outdoor section attached to the fruit and vegetable market at Marche d’Aligre. These markets offer a diverse range of vintage treasures, antiques, and collectibles, allowing you to experience the true essence of Parisian flea market shopping. I love to go to the Emmaus Riquet in the 19th arrondissement because it’s huge and seriously has everything from furniture and plates to jewelry and clothing.
Where to Antique and Vintage Shop in Paris:
In addition to flea markets, Paris is home to several delightful antique and vintage shops. Head to the Marais district for an array of unique boutiques, including Yomokoi 9by my darling friend Fran) , Freepstar, and Nuovo for clothing. On special days inside St Paul Village, there are two antique sellers at the entrance.
Some other places to vintage shop clothing – ChineMacine, Guerrisol (my faveeeee!! But very messy), Kiliwatch, Didier Ludot, Gabrielle Geppert (more luxury), and Thanx God I’m a V.I.P.
Things Worth Buying/Stocking Up at a French Flea Market and Brocantes:
The great thing about flea market shopping here is that it’s so easy to find really good quality everything from Laguiole knives, antique rare edition books, crystal glasses, porcelain plates (look for the Limoges sign of authenticity)

French flea markets offer an abundance of treasures waiting to be discovered. From vintage clothing and accessories to antique furniture and decorative items, there’s something for everyone. LOOK AT THIS INSTA VID OF WHAT I FOUND AT THE EMMAUS IN VERSAILLES /TRAPPES 🙂
When you go to the Puce don’t miss the chance to find unique pieces like vintage Chanel handbags, antique clocks, retro vinyl records, delicate porcelain, and ornate mirrors. If you plan on shipping items go to where the professionals shop for vintage furniture (I can show you!)
Additionally, keep an eye out for vintage postcards and artwork, as they make excellent souvenirs.
How to Get to Puce de Saint-Ouen:
Getting to Puce de Saint-Ouen is relatively easy. Located in the Saint-Ouen district (on the border of Paris), it is accessible by various means of transportation. If you prefer public transport, take Metro Line 4 to Porte de Clignancourt station, and then follow the signs to the market ( a 10-minute walk through a dingy underpass and street, but everyone does it) – think NYC in the 80s hahaha. Alternatively, you can take Bus Line 85, which stops directly in front of the market.
Safety – Paris has lots of pickpockets – carry a crossbody bag or a money belt and never carry anything ofg value in your back pockets and avoid backpacks.
If you’re driving, ample parking spaces are available nearby.

Best Days and Times to Go to Puce de Saint-Ouen:
Summer months are ideal for flea markets and brocante, but going to the Puce is an all-year-long affair.
To make the most of your visit, aim to go to Puce de Saint-Ouen on Saturdays and Sundays around 11am. These days offer the widest variety of vendors and a bustling atmosphere. Arriving early in the morning is recommended (if you can go right at opening), as it allows you to beat the crowds and secure the best deals. However, if you prefer a more relaxed experience, consider visiting on Monday when the market is less crowded – but some sellers will be closed.
Sections Inside Puce de Saint-Ouen:
Puce de Saint-Ouen is divided into four main sections – more like 4 big flea markets in their own right, with 11 sections!
Each with its unique character and offerings. Explore Marché Vernaison for a wide range of vintage clothing, accessories, and furniture. Marché Malik is known for its diverse selection of antique and decorative items + Clothing! Marché Dauphine is a treasure trove for art lovers, with galleries showcasing exquisite artwork. Marché Biron offers high-end antique furniture and collectibles. Marche Paul Bert is my favorite because it’s easy to navigate and very beautiful.
