The Best Chocolate Shops in Paris
Paris is a dream for chocolate lovers, with historic maisons, artisan chocolatiers, and hidden gems tucked into charming streets. Every Valentine’s Day in Paris I get asked the same questions as a tour guide – but you know whether you’re looking for a luxurious gift, a comforting hot chocolate, or just an excuse to indulge, these are some of my absolute favorite spots for the best chocolates in Paris. Chocolates for any occasion or season!
Here are my absolute favorite Paris chocolate spots!
Jacques Genin
One of the most impressive, museum-like chocolate boutiques I’ve ever visited. Every birthday, I treat myself to a box—because what’s life without a little indulgence? The chocolates and caramels here are pure art.
// 133 Rue de Turenne, 75003 (Le Marais)
Patrick Roger
I have no idea how they manage to craft these otherworldly chocolates into colorful spheres and sculptural shapes, but every bite is worth it. A true master of chocolate.
// 43 Rue des Archives, 75003
À La Mère de Famille
One of the oldest chocolate houses in Paris, and it never disappoints. I always go for their dark chocolate-coated oranges and ginger—pure nostalgia in every bite. They have multiple locations across Paris, including one in Montmartre, so you’ll likely find one near you.
// Marais location: 12 Rue Rambuteau, 75003
Edwart Chocolatier
Every time I step into Edwart, the passion of the shopkeeper is contagious. I let them pick whatever they recommend (as long as it’s dark chocolate). Their creations always surprise me in the best way.
// 17 Rue Vieille du Temple, 75004 (Le Marais)
Plaq
Hands down, the best hot chocolate in Paris. It’s a well-kept secret among locals—we just sip our rich, velvety cups while tourists wait in long lines elsewhere (at places we shall not name!).
// 4 Rue du Nil, 75002
Maison Moinet
A charming old-school candy shop that feels straight out of a Wes Anderson film. Nestled on Île Saint-Louis, just a stone’s throw from Notre-Dame, it’s the perfect spot for a whimsical treat. If you’re visiting in the right season, do yourself a favor and grab a marron glacé—it’s heaven.
// 45 Rue Saint-Louis en l’Île, 75004
Without realizing it my list has pretty locations that are in or close to the Marais – so talk about convenience.
