Brunch Bazar is back – Food, Shopping & Fun

Brunch Bazar returns this year in the chic neighbourhood of Le Marais. This year it’s more ambitious with over 1500 m2 of space to shop, play and eat.

Le Corner, new shop on Rue Tiquetonne

New to the slew of shops on Rue Tiquetonne is Le Corner. A medium-sized store in the wall that houses some of the cutest jewelry I’ve seen at an affordable price.

This is the rescue for all the wanna-be concept stores popping up around Paris now. It’s not pretencious at all, just think of this place as a litte secret spot to shop for cute and cheeky name plate necklaces like “Chieuse” and “Vilaine” for you and / or your BFF. Don’t over look their clothing and leather accessoires selection from French designers.

Num: Cosy Thai restaurant in central Paris

We stopped into Num the other night, only because our regular restaurant around the corner was closed. I’ve passed by this Thai restaurant many times as it’s located not far from Agnes B. store and upstairs from the UGC Cinema at Les Halles, but was never tempted to go inside because it seems a bit “touristy”. Located in a diverse yet very central shopping and restaurant area close to l’Eglise St. Eustache, it just seemed too busy there.

But that night, we were pleasantly surprised.

As we pushed back the large entrance doors we were welcomed to this thai restaurant with funky house music playing in the background, lovers giggling over champagne and friends chatting over appetizers.

The Art of the Morning coffee in Paris

Oh la vie Parisienne is subtle mix of daily pleasures and necessary routine. The french make time for leisure au quotidienne; the morning coffee is not a luxury it’s a must.

How you have it depends on your lifestyle, if you have to rush off to work you’ll most likely just have it standing at the bar. Here its cheaper than sitting – usually 1 euro. Or if you have time to read your morning paper or meet friends you’ll opt for a table inside or “en terrace” where the coffee is usually 2.20 euros.

And bad weather will not deter the average Parisian, most terraces are heated and partially covered by very thick plastic. As you’ll see of have already noticed from previous trips to Paris, Parisians smoke a lot, and its no longer permitted inside.

While you’re here don’t hesitate to order a croissant or pain au chocolat with your coffee, they are usually fresh from the best bakery in the qaurtier. Very few Cafe’s will offer a full american style breakfast, but those that do, do it very well, with a mix of eggs, juice, french jams and Nutella.

Two of my favorite cafes for either simply having a coffee or grabbing breakfast in the morning, are in the 2nd and 3rd arrondissement, both in neighborhoods where you can take a little stroll when finished with your coffee.

Both have free Wi-Fi and a great ambiance for kids.
