Updated list of the best things to do with the family in paris during the winter time and beyond.
This week my son’s class goes on thier?2 weeks vacation here in Paris. Sure we live here, but I’m a firm?believe in vacationing where you live! And we’re about to that for at least one of those 2 weeks.
1. Ice – Skate
There still the skate rink open until mid march at the city hall of Paris – metro Hotel de Ville
2. Celebrate Chinese new Years
Take in the colorful ?festivities ?and march from the sidelines – best spot is in the 13th arrondissement which is the best chincese area ?- this year 2015 on sunday the 22nd. ?Parade start at 44 avenue d?Ivry around 1pm Metro Portde D’vry or Tolbiac (line 7)
3. Children’s Cinema
Every year the Forum des Images at Chatles Les Halles has their “Apres Midi des Enfants” / Children’s afternoon movies on wednesdays and satrudays accompanies by a little goiter/ snack session where the kids can meet other kids and ploy afterwards. Also a greet place to meet other parents if new to paris. Some films are also in English or even subtitled. ?See the full list here?Starts at 3pm. Best to also buy tickets in advance if possible.
Mk2 Junior, Le Nouveau Latina?(in the Marais metro Hotel de Ville) and Louxor?(in the 10th at metro Barbes line 4)?will all have movies, shorts and cartoons for the children throughout the year, but more especially during the holiday seasons.
4.?Paris Aquarium
Some indoor fun ; shows, workshops and movies for the whole family. Great in the colder months. Metro Iena?Line 9 . Open 10 am to 7 pm everyday.
5. Children’s gallery at Centre Pompidou – A dedicated kids area filled with goodies and workshops for the kids, based on the present seasonal?exhibition.
NB closed on Tuesdays! But seriously one of the best place to take the kids. They also have many street performer?outside, including a clown that makes animal balloons for the tiny tots. ?Metro Rambuteau (line 11)
6.?La Cite des Enfants
At Porte de la Villette. “Split into?two distinct exhibitions (2-7 years and 5-12 years), Cit? des Enfants is an adventure playground designed to awaken children’s curiosity, letting them explore a variety of rich and diverse situations.?
There are lots of activities centred around games, actions and experiments, helping children to happily prepare for further learning. ” Go on-time if there is a specific workshop you’d like to do with the kids – it promises to be a huge hit and that’s why there will be a lot of people there too.
7.?Gaite Lyrique
One of our favorites! Food, workshops, cafe, and digital storytelling and lots of games.
8. Swimming Pools in Paris
Are fun and generally very kid friendly and many even have specify baby nageur / baby swimming pools or classes. ?For a list of Parisian pools see here.??They cost something like 5 euros.
9.?Musee Quai Branly
Always has one of the best programs for kids of all ages. You can even have a private birthday party here.
10. Eat
Some amazing cupcakes at Sugardaze or grab some “steak hachee” and frites at?any one of our Paris brunch places. There are also many crepes stands in the touristy areas and around the metros perfect for a quick snack or Nutella?crepe while running around.
