Le Christine – One of the Best Dining Experiences in Paris
There are lovely dinners in Paris, and then there are those unforgettable evenings that feel like a perfectly written story—where the food, wine, ambiance, and company align in such harmony, you never want the night to end.
Our weekly date night took us to the 6th arrondissement – and on the most perfect street to enjoy a bit of calm in Paris. I cycled over the Seine River and met Benoit out front as he arrived straight from work.
Our dinner at Le Christine, a tucked-away gem in the heart of this historic St Germain des Pres neighbourhood, was exactly that: one of the most memorable and joyful dining experiences I’ve had in Paris. From the chef’s playful touches to the kindness of our server and the knowledge of the sommelier, the evening felt personal, elegant, and full of delicious surprises.

A Playful and Elegant Beginning
We kicked off with a clever and cheeky amuse-bouche that paid tribute to a childhood snack—sour cream and onion chips, but reimagined with gourmet finesse. Made in-house with what appeared to be crispy potato skin, it was nostalgic and refined all at once.
Next came a visual illusion: olives shaped like chocolate truffles, filled with anchovy—a rich and surprising bite that set the tone for the menu’s whimsical and sensory journey. A warm croquette with camembert followed, melting perfectly in the mouth, and then a petit pizza soufflé, airy and flavorful. Every bite was both a comfort and a surprise.

Seasonal Joys and Layered Flavors
Spring was clearly in the air—and on the plate. A beautiful tarte fine with asparagus arrived, thin and crisp with a velvety cream poured tableside. The aroma alone had my mouth watering before the first bite. Smooth, fresh, and crisp, it was a love letter to the season.
Then came a poetic dish of mussels with citron sauce, served on a bed of seaweed—bright, oceanic, and beautifully balanced. Another take on mussels arrived with salicorn (sea beans) and a deep, flavorful dark sauce in the center, with warm brioche on the side. It was the kind of dish that invited you to pause and interact—mix the elements, or savor each part on its own.

A Dish to Remember: Morels with Beer Sauce
My personal favorite of the night? The morel mushrooms. Earthy and elegant, paired with a creamy beer sauce spiced with delicate seeds—it was a dish that danced on the tongue. Creamy, crunchy, and deeply satisfying, I found myself slowing down just to extend the pleasure with every bite.

A Bold and Beautiful Dessert
The meal closed with a bold surprise: almond ice cream paired with Manchego cheese. A striking play on sweet and savory, it was a powerful mix—one that lingered on the palate and made us smile. A reminder that dessert doesn’t always have to be soft and sweet; sometimes it’s about contrast and curiosity.

Wine and Atmosphere
Each course was paired with a thoughtfully chosen wine, and our sommelier didn’t just pour—he shared stories. The first glass was a gift from the Amalfi Coast, setting the tone for a soulful, story-rich wine pairing journey that elevated the entire experience.
The ambiance was refined but warm, with a house jazz playlist humming in the background. The room was a beautiful mix—elegant older ladies, young couples, and locals who clearly knew they were in for something special. And the team? From the chef to our server, to the sommelier—absolute angels. Kind, intuitive, and excited to share their craft with joy.

Final Thoughts
