Dinner in Paris: Radisson Blu Champs Elysees
Food review of the Radisson Blu Champs-Elysees restaurant La Place.
To be honest, I often try to avoid eating in or around the Champs Elysees area because of a few reasons, either the places is an overrated tourist traps, doesn’t have a good balance of quality and price, or is simply uninteresting. ?I mean Paris has so many options of really good places to eat, that I know about I don’t need to settle for a quick stop anywhere.
So imagine my delight when today I discovered the restaurant inside the Radisson Blu hotel to be a total gem!
Located just off the Champs ?lys?e two minutes walk from the Arc de Triomphe hides one of Paris best dinning experience, in my opinion.?My cravings for fresh and healthy spring food with all around good service was answered starting with the Potimarron, a warm starter of creamy pumpkin enveloping a center of crisp bacon on a bed of foie-gras. Guys…where do I find the words!?
Let’s just say I wasn?t really ready, when I dipped the spoon in the middle and brought it to my mouth felt the smoothness of the foie?gras and the salty crunchy ness of the bacon strips made my mouth sensations explode with delight.
They have a few other options for starters, but I’d highly recommend this one, especially if you’d like to try foie-gras in a different way!

We opted for a chardonnay 2014 that I would not get next time, it tasted a bit bodiless. But everything else was perfect! The fish, “Cabillaud”?Cod was fluffy, savory ?and delicately flavored on a bed of orange infused endive (usually comes on a bed of semolina but I asked for a swaparoo) and it was delicious.
For dessert I had this whopper of a Baba Rhum that was the icing on the cake for the whole experience here. The Rum Baba is a typical French dessert, a sort of cake drenched in, yes you guessed it, rum! Need I say more? It was also topped with a light whipped cream.
This is the type of place I?d recommend also for a work meeting as the crowd seems to be a mix of corporate types and classy vacationers. In the evening it could make an elegant setting for a romantic dinner, and they also have a small bar close to a fire-place. In total expect to spend around 60 Euros per person including the starter, main dish and dessert, not a bad price for such an experience.
NB: The restaurant is closed seasonally in August ?- reopens September.
